Dogs First Care Centre is a full service doggy day care, grooming, training and socialization facility for dogs located in North Melbourne. We are service providers to all types of dogs from tiny terrier puppies to huge great danes and every size and breed type in between.
Many of the dogs who come to our care centre are high maintenance and require a lot of training, some are just here for a bit of a play, some socialization and others are here because they might bark too much or destroy things when left home alone. Whatever the reason, they are our 100% responsibility whilst in our care and we treat them with love, respect, praise and of course give them an understanding of our boundaries.
This position entails meeting and greeting customers, ensuring payments are made, answering phones, completing paperwork, ensuring all records are up to date, ensuring paperwork and computer records procedures are adhered to, liaising with BOH staff. You will also be required to unpdate all of our electronic media and be responsible for updating our website.
Depending on the day, numbers of dogs booked etc, you may have as little as one additional staff member to deal with for possibly eight plus. You also need to ensure that all dogs (possibly 40) on the premises are provided for as per their owners paid requirements and that these instructions are conveyed to the BOH supervisor.
Our business hours are 6am-7pm Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm weekends and all public holidays. You will be expected to be available to cover a full time shift with possible 6am morning starts or 7pm evening finishes and every staff member has to take a turn at working weekends on rotation.

REQUIRED SELECTION CRITERIA :
Please ensure you address all aspects of the required selection criteria in your application to be considered.
• Common sense approach and the use of logic in your thinking. A self starter who does not need hand holding.
• Excellent Windows based Computer skills with a particular slant towards enhancing photographs and editing mini videos.
• A demonstrated ability to update a website, facebook page and other electronic media.
• Ability to persuade clients to use the full range of our services
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
• In previous positions you must have managed staff of all ages.
• A basic knowledge of domestic canines as well as training aspects.
• English as your first language and an Australian resident.
• Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask both literally and figuratively.
• Consistency in process and instruction.
• Willingness to participate in our dog sleepover program and take dogs home overnight.
• Mature, responsive, clear thinking and an unquestionable work ethic.
• Retail dressing ability, product placement knowledge and pride in presentation.
DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA
• Live within a maximum 10km of North Melbourne.
• A certificate in Animal First Aid or Companion Animal Studies.
This position is ideally suited to a level headed individual who has a firm grasp on electronic media and how to get the best out of it.
